Tips for Moving on a Rainy Day

You've cleaned, everything is packed and you booked Singapore movers weeks in advance. Suddenly, a downpour on your big day comes as a surprise. Not exactly what you wanted because when it rains moving does become more difficult. This is one of the most dreadful things that can happen on a moving day and clearly, something that is out of control.

Although you can’t control the weather, a little bit of planning can help you make the best of a messy situation. Read on to learn some tips for effective ways of moving in the rain.

Wrap everything with plastic

Moving on a rainy day means paying extra attention to wrapping your belongings for extra protection against the rain. Moving blankets are not waterproof materials, so when packing be sure to wrap your belongings with a garbage bag or stretch wrap. Ask your moving company to shrink-wrap your large furniture pieces and mattresses.

Make sure everyone wears the right clothes

Forget sandals and canvas flats and look for shoes with great traction or even waterproof boots with rubber soles so you won't slip and slide while loading and unloading your heavy furniture under the rain. You’ll also end up spending time both inside and outside so consider wearing a rain jacket or raincoat as you won't exactly have the free hand to hold an umbrella.

Gather your boxes and other items in your garage or hallway

Regardless of whether you rent or own, you still would want to protect it and make sure to not leave muddy footprints and any mess in your old home.  So, to minimize the need to traipse around with you and your movers Singapore, gather all your packed items ready in one place closer to the moving truck.

Make an assembly line

Alternatively, if you have enough people helping you move, another best way to speed up the process and avoid tracking mud inside your home is to move your belongings through an assembly line. Designate teams to work as indoor and outdoor crews to another person outside who can bring your items to the truck, and then another one who is going to arrange the items inside the moving truck. Same goes when you arrive in your new home.

Wipe off items as you load them

It's impossible to keep everything dry in a downpour. Keep towels close by to wipe off any excess moisture and dry off things as you place them inside the moving truck. A small amount of dampness can damage your furniture plus, it can encourage mould growth which can be detrimental to your health.

Prepare hot cocoa and treats for your Singapore movers

While the heat is off, it may be a good idea to prepare a crockpot of apple cider, hot chocolate or hot coffee for you and for your movers when they're finally done moving. You will feel better, plus it'll show the movers your appreciation.

Although moving in the rain is going to be messy, protecting your valuables from the rain isn't so hard. Just follow these simple steps and you'll get through it just fine. This is my second move with Aspect. I would use them again. Less than 5 given because one piece of soft furniture arrived at the door without plastic wrap. The plastic fell off enroute and the item wasn’t rewrapped and instead moved along narrow corridors without wrapping.

Consistent follow-up and confirmation from Linda, she was really responsive and friendly!Boxes, bubble wrap and packing material were provided a week before. And the key: moving service- nothing short of excellent! They were really friendly movers (4 of them!) and very efficient. Items were well-dismantled, taken care of and assembled. Nothing was damaged and everything was settled really quickly- 1h each to remove and to set up. Brilliant service overall, will definitely go for Faith Relocation again!

Linda and her team did a great job on my relocation. They were exactly on time, helped me pick up another piece of furniture from another location, and got everything to our new place at the agreed upon price, no fuss and no hidden feeds. Thanks Faith Movers!
