Get your finances in order

Leaving home is expensive so you need to make sure you have enough money to stock your fridge, pay the first couple of months of rent and buy all of the home essentials you will need. The general rule of thumb is that your monthly rental should not exceed 30% of what you are earning in a month. The remaining amount can be put to other utilities you’ll have to pay. You may also have to hire Singapore movers so include that when creating your budget plan.

Prioritize home safety

Whether you are living alone or with a roommate, home safety should be your priority especially if you are new and unfamiliar with the place. Replace the locks of your new home and make sure all your doors and windows are secured. You can also install a home security system to secure your home against burglary or any other unpredictable situations like fire.

Learn how to do basic household chores

Moving out of home also means that you are responsible for the household chores like sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, doing your own laundry and folding and ironing your clothes. Most importantly, you must learn how to cook. Eating out is a hard habit to break but it doesn’t make sense to do this especially when you are on a tight budget.

Plan out your move

Moving out is a big step towards independent living especially if you are moving alone. So, make sure to prepare your plan in advance. Here are some of your biggest to-dos:

  • Create a checklist of the things that you need to do.

  • Organize and get rid of unwanted stuff.

  • Arrange utilities for your new home.

  • Gather moving supplies and pack your belongings.

  • Figuring out whether you need to hire Singapore movers.

And a whole lot more, so start planning early so you have enough time to tackle all of the tasks before the big day comes.

Conclusion

It is a big step to move out for the first time, but also a rewarding one as you gain more independence. But it doesn’t mean that it’s easy. You’ll be faced with challenges, and one of those is the actual moving of your belongings. If you think the physical tasks of moving your belongings to your new home is something you can’t handle on your own, submit one delivery on Wise Move and let our movers Singapore handle everything from packing to moving your belongings to your new home. I don't normally write reviews but they impressed me on the following: Came earlier than expected. Took care when moving things. Also did exceptionally fast given only 1 main mover since the other was on MC leave at last minute. Communication on WhatsApp was smooth. Also the price was better than the other quotes. Extremely happy I hired them, and very grateful they worked so hard given how many boxes I had. I have recommended them to all my friends.
